TULINABO FATAKANWE Pascal

It is with profound sadness that Virunga National Park confirms the death of Ranger TULINABO FATAKANWE Pascal (aged 29 years old) in an attack by suspected members of the Mai-Mai militia.

The assault took place in Virunga National Park’s Central Sector on the morning of 6th February 2023. Two other Rangers were seriously injured and are receiving medical treatment in a health facility in Goma.

Ranger Tulinabo Fatakanwe Pascal had been a Ranger since 2017. He leaves behind a wife and two children. Virunga National Park sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this time.

Through our continued commitment to the Congolese people and the preservation of Virunga National Park, we will honor his legacy and that of all the other Rangers that have tragically lost their lives to help bring peace and prosperity to eastern Congo.
