The Congolese Institute for the Conservation of Nature confirms the arrest of Jackson Muhukambuto on January 9th in Butembo.

The rebel leader was apprehended by Virunga National Park rangers through a carefully planned sting operation, following a long investigation into ivory trafficking across the province of North Kivu.

In addition to his involvement in ivory trafficking, Jackson MUHUKAMBUTO is also held responsible for numerous crimes committed by armed individuals placed under his command.
