The rebel leader was apprehended by Virunga National Park rangers through a carefully planned sting operation, following a long investigation into ivory trafficking across the province of North Kivu.
In addition to his involvement in ivory trafficking, Jackson MUHUKAMBUTO is also held responsible for numerous crimes committed by armed individuals placed under his command. The accused was handed over by ICCN to the appropriate judicial authorities with a view to further investigate the charges against him
