I was lucky enough to visit Virunga in August 2016…. a never to be forgotten experience. The work that has been and continues to be done to preserve this piece of paradise, the gorillas, wildlife and environment is nothing short of miraculous. Thank you for your dedication and hard work ensuring future generations will still be able to visit Virunga and to those who make the ultimate sacrifice, you are heroes who will always be remembered. Thank you.

These rangers are true martyrs. What could drive their fellow countrymen to commit such a despicable act? We may never know. We must honor these rangers and their comrades and families by redoubling our commitment to them and their perilous service on behalf of all mankind.

I think we only can send light! First of all to the families and people who were confronted with this violence and who have lost someone…⭐❤

And second how difficult to the poachers, because they dont realize what they are doing..! Lets pray that these poachers and other men in the whole kivu area (were a lot of women are raped on a daily base) will come to awarness and become more consious!! 🙏🙏🙏 And of course that the rangers will be better protected and safer from now on..
Sending hatered and angry vibes doesnt help (although I understand! I also like to kill a man who killed my husband/son/gorilla…Who was protecting these lovely gorillas).
That region of DRC is very dark at the moment. It needs light!☀ If we all do our best effort and send a ray of light from our hearts 💓💗❤, Im sure that will brighten up that whole area and the Virunga mountain!! 🗻

So much appreciated effort to all the rangers involved. Saddened by such loss but the outside world admires all of you involved in protecting such a valuable resource and endangered species.

  46. Chrissie April 18, 2018 Reply

I amn appalled that 175 Rangers have been killed by poachers. This disregard for life means these people have no morality and should be treated as they treat their victims, both human and primate.

  47. But when are these rebel groups going to leave Virunga. Its so disheartening hearing what happens in this park day by day.
