Makes All The Difference

In the past year, the security situation at Virunga National Park has been incredibly challenging, with rebel groups asserting control over the southern sector, including the critical mountain gorilla habitat and Park headquarters. Heartbreakingly, 2023 has seen the loss of ten of our courageous Rangers in unprovoked attacks.

With the support of local communities, the dedication of our Rangers and local staff, and the integration of cutting-edge technologies, we are resolute in our mission to protect and preserve the rich biodiversity of the Park and establish a sustainable green economy in North Kivu.

Together, we will safeguard this vital biodiversity hotspot, ensuring its benefits endure for generations to come.
