Virunga National Park is Africa’s largest protected area, home to one third of the world’s population of mountain gorillas, and a haven for biodiversity. Despite its amazing assets, the Park faces continual challenges, such as the ongoing occupation of the gorilla sector by armed militia, limiting ecotourism and restricting our Rangers’ ability to monitor wildlife.
Your donation will help the Park persevere through this period of reduced revenue from tourism and be prepared for unforeseen circumstances, such as natural disasters and disease outbreaks. You will also be supporting the 770+ Rangers that bravely protect the Park, its people and wildlife, as well as the ongoing efforts to build a local, green economy and the world’s only sanctuary for orphaned mountain gorillas.
